Tattoo Aftercare:

Aftercare Timeline:

Immediately After Your Appointment:
Once your tattoo is complete, I may apply Recovery Derm Shield to protect the area while it begins to heal, as long as you do not have a known sensitivity or reaction to adhesive. Keep the bandage on for 3–5 days. Remove it sooner if you experience significant irritation, burning, swelling, or an allergic reaction.

When Removing the Bandage:
Wash your hands before touching your tattoo. Gently remove the bandage as directed. If it feels stuck, loosen it under warm running water rather than pulling it off quickly.

After Removing the Bandage:
Gently wash the tattoo with clean hands and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Do not scrub or use a washcloth. Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel and allow it to air-dry briefly before applying a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer. Once the bandage has been removed, do not cover or re-bandage the tattoo, as trapping bacteria underneath can increase the risk of infection.

Days 2–7:
Wash and moisturize the tattoo as needed, usually once or twice daily. Apply only a thin layer of moisturizer and avoid over-moisturizing. Mild redness, tenderness, peeling, dryness, and itching can be normal during this stage.

Days 7–14:
Your tattoo may continue to peel, flake, or feel dry and itchy. Do not pick, scratch, or pull at peeling skin. Continue using a small amount of fragrance-free moisturizer as needed.

Weeks 2–4:
The surface of your tattoo may appear dull or cloudy while the deeper layers of skin continue healing. Continue to treat the area gently and avoid soaking it until it is fully healed.

Until Fully Healed:
Avoid swimming, baths, hot tubs, excessive sweating, direct sunlight, tight clothing, picking, and scratching. Do not apply sunscreen to the tattoo until the skin has fully healed. Once healed, protect your tattoo with sunscreen to help preserve the artwork.

If you have concerns about your healing tattoo or notice increasing redness, warmth, swelling, worsening pain, pus, red streaks, fever, or other signs of infection, please contact a medical professional.
